Someone to Hold

"Someone to Hold"
Little child crying crying crying in the night
little child crying let me hold you hold you tight.
ahummmmmmmmmmmmmm
Cryingggggggggg . . . oh thereeeeeeee . . .
Sleep baby sleep . . .sleep baby sleep . . .
Do you have a hunger? Do you have a thirst?
Do you need a change?Tell me what is worst.
Did you have a night mare? Did you see the night flare?
Did you hear a sound? Did you feel the bomb?
Do you want your papa? Do you want your mom?
Do you cry for someone? -- someone who is gone?
I don't have no diamonds. I don't have no gold.
But I have love and hope. Here's someone to hold.
Do you have a hunger? Do you have a thirst?
Do you need a change? A change in this world?
Little child crying, crying crying in the night
little child crying, let me hold you hold you tight.

Lullaby for a Pure Heart

"Lullaby for a Pure Heart"
As we lay abed
And as you rest your eyes
Now at the end of the day
I can see you slippin’, slippin’ away
Fallin’ towards sleep through a quilted space
Floating like a leaf, twirling in place,
Swirlin’ slowly round as you come to rest
Nestled for the night
Restin’ in that center of joy and light.
And are you sleepin’ Carolyn?
Are you sleepin’ my darlin’?
Are you sleepin’ my Carolyn?
Or are you transported up to some heaven?
Pasture rose petals on your lips,
Scent of strawberry on your fingertips,
Sunlight in your hair
And softness everywhere.
And are you sleepin’ Carolyn?
Are you sleepin’ my darlin’?
Are you sleepin’ my Carolyn?
Or are you up, up and away with some angels dancin’?
Are you off swimmin’ with some bare back dolphin
Swimmin’ in some warm sunlit ocean?
Or are you sleepin’ Carolyn?
Or are you dreamin’?
Or are you swimmin’?
Swimin’ in some ocean
Of joy and Light?
Or are you sleepin’ Carolyn?
Are you sleepin’ my darlin’?
Are you sleepin’ my Carolyn?
Or are you off across the Milkway
in pure starlight
twinklin’?

Breath on the Water

"Breath on the Water"
Take this air and pass it on,
reach down breath it all the way in.
Pass it on and share and share again.
It's all breath on the water;
it's all breath on the water.
Ommmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. (5x)

“You Never Know (when a Bodhisattva will arise)”
Quiet in the meadow, stretched from earth to sky
Digging down for minerals, reaching up for light.
As pistils and stamens make their statements, expressed in hopes as seeds they fertilize,
You never know . . . when a bodhisattva will arise.
Busy, busy, busy, bustling from flower to flower
Harvesting the honey, communicating pollen.
While in the tree a cocooned caterpillar, wrapped in silk suspended lies.
You never know . . . when a bodhisattva will arise.
Busy, busy, busy, going from thing to thing.
Not centering in silence, not taking time to sing.
But then an unexpected interruption, a shock, a startle, a surprise.
You never know . . . when a bodhisattva will arise.
Encountering compassion, come in an unexpected guise
Relaxing every muscle, opening into a smile.
Inexplicable elation, breathing out a sigh
You never know . . . when a bodhisattva will arise.

Smile and I'll Be There

"Smile and I'll Be There"
When the sun has set like a memory,
and the fire has lit up like a flare,
In the warmth and the laughter and the melodies,
smile and I'll be there.
Smile and I'll be there again,
smile and I'll be there.
In the warmth and the laughter and the melodies,
smile and I'll be there.
La de da da da da da da da da da
la de da da da da da da da
la de da da da da da da da da da
la da da da da
You and I are smiling now,
it's a smile that we always will share.
In the warmth and the laughter and the melodies,
smile and we'll always be there.

"Now I Lay Me"
Now I lay me down to sleep, pray the Lord my soul to keep.
Guide me safely through the night. Wake me with the morning light.
Guide me safely through each night and day.
Close my eyes and cup my head,
Lie here quiet in my bed.
Lie here quiet through the night,
Wrapped in warmth and inward Light.
Gentle children spend their day lost in laughter and in play.
When they lie in bed at night, in their hearts there is a light.
